2016 Best Books Summary
I read a lot of great books in 2016. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites even though, generally, “Best of 2016” lists are a bit out of fashion at this point of the year.
Gillian Flynn Binge
I read Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. I’d held off from doing it for a while because it was a popular book and I don’t like reading books when everyone (slight hyperbole) is reading them. I saw the movie, however, and remember being surprised by the plot. I decided to read the book several months later after a trusted mentor told me she believed I’d enjoy it’s perspective. Sure enough, I did.
Book: The Color Purple
Book:
The Color Purple by Alice Walker (1982)
Inspiration to Read:
This is a book I’ve always heard about and always intended to read. It came as a suggested book to read on my Amazon account and I was pleased to make it my next choice.
Book: Yes Please
Book:
Yes Please, Amy Poehler (2014)
Inspiration to Read:
I wanted to read another nonfiction book; an autobiography or memoir by a woman. A Google search led me to a list of 15 recently published memoirs by women. I chose Poehler’s from that list because I’ve heard buzz that her book is funny and worth reading.
